A dream job for a Ruby developer

itBoat receives the first round of investment from a strategic partner and therefore announces a competition for the position of Senior Web Developer (RoR).

About the project

itBoat is a leading Russian sailing portal. Since May 2010 it was developed with own resources by a group of enthusiasts with serious background in Internet business and yachting industry. The first version was developed by Igor Gladkoborodov's group (Theories and Practices, Work Is Fun), the design was done by Kirill Ten (Look At Me, Bookmate). The site is built on the Ruby On Rails platform.

Who we need:

  • Young, but already quite experienced "rails person" - at least 2-3 years of experience and several projects of different types in the portfolio
  • A dynamic, hard-working person who is ready to work under tough startup deadlines
  • Open-minded developer, who has many ideas of his own about how web services should look like
  • A person who is no stranger to nautical romance

What you will need to do:

  • Personally write a lot of code as well as keep an eye on a small group of remote developers.
  • Develop and maintain the existing portal In the nearest plans - restyling and small refactoring of all key sections.
  • Create from scratch new projects related to yachts (right now we are starting to make a new international online service).
  • Participate in the work on promotional websites and special projects ordered by third-party clients from the yachting industry.

Why this is a dream job:

  • This is not some "another boring Groopon clone", but a beautiful, unconventional story that will leave no one indifferent.
  • Yachting, especially sailing, is booming in Russia right now .
  • We have a small company without bureaucracy and other nonsense, with a friendly and positive team of people of all ages. All are not fools about to have fun, so get ready to train your wits ;-).
  • You can travel a lot at the expense of the company. Trips to international exhibitions, shipyard tours and sailing regattas are part of our job and there is no getting away from it!
  • We will also organise motor and sailing training at company expense. Get Russian and international boating "rights. You will become a real sea wolf.
  • The position in question is one of the key ones, and based on the results of the first year you may qualify for the option program.
  • Yachting is a pass to a separate, private world where you can informally communicate with the legendary and super-interesting it personalities. For example, avid yachtsmen are Larry Ellison (Oracle), Niklas Zennstrom (co-founder of Skype), Larry Page (Google), among Russians are Artemy Lebedev, Kirill Podolsky (Anywayday), Anatoly Karachinsky (IBS), Ruslan Fazlyev(Ecwid) and many others. Yandex has its own sailing team now. Steve Jobs in the last years of his life worked on iYacht project at Feadshipshipyard in the Netherlands.
