The fifth and final round of the series will start on March 6, 2014 in the waters near Monaco. Monaco Melges20 Winter Series - Pirogovo Cup regatta. The competition will last four days and end on Sunday.
Nakhimov Racing crew is in the lead after four stages. Ivan Babich's crew has a good advantage, and «Nakhimov Racing» has all the chances to win the overall standings. However, predicting is a thankless task. Besides, the area of the yacht club «Hercules» is notorious for its heavy waves; on the competition days a variable wind is expected.
The initiators and the main "engines" of the winter races in the Melges20 class are Valentin Zavadnikov, co-owner of Synergy team, and Kirill Podolsky, head of the RUS7 sports club. The first season is successful: crews from Russia, Italy and USA participate in the regatta. At the last stage, a crew from the Czech Republic joined the races.
