Benetti has announced the sale of Diamond 145, the first hull of the 44-metre series, whose name translates into Russian as «diamond». The yacht was announced during last year's Cannes Yacht Festival.

Construction on the first Diamond 145 (serial number BP001) began in Viareggio before a buyer had even been found.

«Diamond 145 was launched only four months ago, but even during the design stage we realised that it is a model with incredible potential»," saidFranco Fusignani, CEO of Italian Benetti.

It took us considerably longer to design the boat than it did to find a buyer. Designer Giorgio M. Cassetta took over three years to create the exterior of the Diamond 145. The end result is a boat with the typical sporty qualities of a displacement yacht.

«We worked on every detail of the design to create a yacht that is both luxurious and practical»," says Giorgio M. Cassetta.

«The refined and dynamic» superstructure made of glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) is combined with «tall hull sides», huge windows in the saloons, guest areas and owner's stateroom. This solution gives the interiors by Achille Salvagni plenty of natural sunlight.

The main deck forward of this flagship of Benetti's fast displacement range features a full-beam master suite with a spacious dressing room, bathroom and study.

The galley and crew mess are located amidships while a spacious saloon is situated aft. The dining area has been moved forward on the upper deck and four double guest cabins have been assigned to the lower deck. This area also accommodates seven crew members. On request, Benetti is prepared to sacrifice the captain's cabin for a fifth guest cabin, which would then be located on the upper deck.

A pair of MAN V12-1400 diesel engines, each delivering 1,400 hp, will provide a top speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots, for a range of 3,800 nautical miles.
