After the launch of their flagship 54-meter Mangusta GranSport 54 El Leon, the Italians from Overmarinehave decided to focus on something smaller. The 33-meter composite Mangusta GranSport 33 is the smallest in the range of fast displacement yachts. Overmarine showed her renders for the first time in her new showroom in Miami on February 13th.

During the very first brief, designer Alberto Mancini was tasked with creating a boat that would combine a minimalist profile with soft lines, a striking personality and a balance between exterior and interior. «The new Overmarine had to fully reflect the identity of the Mediterranean lifestyle on Mangusta yachts». While working on the project, the designer added two more qualities to this list: spaciousness and privacy.

The GranSport 33 welcomes guests with a wide (7.4m) aft water area and an equally wide cockpit on the main deck. From the renderings and descriptions that the yard gives to this Mangusta, it is not yet clear whether the aft tender garage could be used as a large beach club, as conceived for example on Heesen Aquamarine. However, if the owners of GranSport would like to do this, they could not be deterred. The cockpit in Overmarine is reported only to be«equipped with everything you need», and judging by the images, you can add to this: «a sofa, a table and a pair of lounge chairs».

Further back on the main deck are the saloon, galley and owner's suite.

Thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, there is plenty of natural light and air throughout this level of the boat. A couple of windows in the saloon can be opened, so you can always let the sea breeze in and air out the saloon if you wish.

The galley is directly adjacent to the saloon, making it easier for the staff to serve guests.

The layout of the master cabinon the main deck was one of the key decisions of the project, according to Overmarine. This allowed them to be configured in such a way that the owners could enjoy the privacy of having as much space as possible, while retaining privacy from prying eyes and ears.Forguests, the GranSport 33 offers four cabins on the lower deck and can accommodate a total of 12 guests and 5 crew members.

Mancini has designed impeccable interiors in Italian style which «perfectly match the boat's exterior». However, the shipyard is open to suggestions from clients regarding both decor and layout, so that the yacht's interior spaces can easily be personalized.

GranSport's spacious flybridge features two relaxation areas, one with wet bar and sun pads aft, the other with a sofa and tables for alfresco dining and a large communal lounge and Jacuzzi in the bow.

The Mangusta GranSport Overmarine line was conceived as being both stylish and technologically advanced. One key characteristic that unites all models in the range is the use of high tech features that make guests feel as comfortable as possible on the boat, whether cruising at high speeds or during more leisurely long distance cruises.

In the case of the GranSport 33, the vessel will be propelled by an innovative propulsion setup: four Volvo Penta D13 1000 IB 735kW engines, each rated at 1000 hp, which will be coupled to four Volvo Penta IPS 1350 bottom speakers. This combination has resulted in low vibration and noise levels. In addition, these engines are very compact, which means they do not require a large engine room, giving the boat an extra amount of space which can be used by the GranSport owner and his guests.

The selected engines are efficient over the entire speed range, including a maximum of 26 knots.

Fuel consumption is optimised and the exhausts fulfil the stringent International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Tier III and US EPA Tier 3 standards.

Thanks to Joystick Docking and a dynamic positioning system that allows the boat to remain in position, the GranSport 33 will be manoeuvrable when mooring. Comfortable mooring at anchor will be provided by the Humphree system: four fin stabilizers, electronically integrated with«active interceptors», installed on the transom.

The new Mangusta's shallow draft of only 1.9m when fully laden will allow her to travel safely to the Mediterranean, the Bahamas, andNew York's Long Islandarea.

Construction on the first GranSport 33 has already begun. The owner is expected to receive her in 2020.
