Italian superyacht builder Sanlorenzo has delivered the first 31-metre SL102 Asymmetric, which made its world premiere last year at the Cannes Yachting Festival. Details of the vesselwere revealed earlier this summer.

The boat will be based in Singapore and will sail in Southeast Asia.

«Delivering a new yacht is always exciting for everyone, especially with the first asymmetric SL102»," said Nick Stratton , Sanlorenzo Asia Sales Manager.

The asymmetry was mainly inspired by Chris Bangle, the car design guru who for years has been drawing the entire range of BMW models. But Zuccon International Studio masters embodied the fresh idea in metal. «But they couldn't afford to make the SL102 look so atypical Sanlorenzo», so they looked through a lot of archive photos to find out the trademark «Sanlorenzo» features and transfer them to «asymmetric» superyacht.

«The wrong» layout of the main deck - Port Side Wide Body - means that only the starboard side is left aisle.

The result is a happy medium where the crew can still move easily from the bow to the stern and back, with the interior spaces flooded with natural sunlight from floor to ceiling on the port side.

Asymmetry also increases the living space by almost 25 square metres.

A variety of layouts are possible but some things have remained constant, such as the master suite on the main deck and the four guest cabins below it. The crew area, including the stateroom and two cabins with bunk beds, is forward on the lower deck. The dining area can be arranged directly beside the panoramic window.

The SL102, according to the yard, is capable of cruising at a top speed of around 28 to 29 knots depending on the engines fitted (a pair of 16V MTU M86 or their upgraded version, the M96) with a cruising speed of 25 to 26 knots. Fuel reserves are 12,000 litres and fresh water reserves are 2,000 litres.
