Yesterday, May 4, the third stage of Extreme Sailing Series ended in Qingdao, China. Gazprom Team Russia successfully completed the last day of racing and took fifth place, right behind leaders Alinghi, Realteam, ETNZ, The Wave, Muscat.

The Russian crew showed excellent form even the difficult weather conditions did not prevent it, forcing the organizers to change the race regulations slightly - they reduced the number of teams on the course.

The severe weather also caused a serious accident: the Red Bull Sailing Team and Alinghi Team collided at 15 knots and crashed out of the race (which didn't stop the Swiss team from winning the overall ranking).

«I remember from 2008 that Qingdao waters are very challenging, and I am pleased that our team managed to cope with all the difficulties and reach the set goal», - Igor Lisovenko, the skipper of Gazprom Team Russia, commented results of the third round and added that there is no time to relax - the fourth round of the regatta will take place soon.

This year Extreme Sailing Series Act 4 will come to St. Petersburg. The competitions are planned for June 26-29 and will take place at the Peter and Paul Fortress.
