Google technology enabled «to sneak» aboard a cruise ship

It's now possible to visit one of the world's largest cruise liners from the comfort of your own home. Royal Caribbean International has announced the use of Google Maps Business View technology to showcase the interiors of Allure of the Seas.

The technology is based on Google Street View and allows viewing panoramas inside the interior (in this case, the ship).

The development will help «clients walk around the liner» and assess its comfort. However, even for those who are not going on a trip yet, it can be interesting to see how a cruise ship is decorated.

For creation of the panorama more than 20 thousand shots were made. All of them were taken with a regular DSLR camera, using a wide angle lens. The shooting took 60 man-hours and 8 working days.

You can see the results on the project website, as well as on Google map service (you will need to enter the name of the ship into the search engine - Allure of the Seas).
