For the third time this season, the Russian business community raced sailing boats in a business weekend format. This time the competition was held in the Latvian capital, Riga, where 10 crews gathered.
Sailing business weekends format is ideal for those who are always busy, but do not want to give up yachting. You can manage a lot in three days. The more so since one of the regatta principles is the maximum number of races within the allotted time. « Week-long amateur regattas are very time-consuming and often take place in cruise format. Besides , for this audience it is very important to understand who they will be in the same boat», - says Anna Stepanova, general manager of Russian Business Weekend.
According to the already established tradition, the races were held on mono-types. This time it was BluSail24 boats of Italian design. This fleet is familiar to Baltic states thanks to international races of match-race format: well-balanced volume of sails allows not losing speed even if there is a significant roll on a tack. « A new class of yacht for me, the monohulls. So it all depends on our skill. Handicap has nothing to do - pure sport: the first is the winner. It was great! », - shares Pavel Rodin, managing partner of «BEST-newbuild».
The intensive sports program was combined with not less intensive educational and business program. The participants attended a seminar on the enacted changes in the ISAF sailing rules, and, after listening to a report by Rietumu Bank , learned all about the local investment climate.
The next Business Sailing Weekend will take place at the end of October in Marseille on Archambault Grand Surprise 32ft class yachts.
