A couple from the UK returned from a week-long voyage on their yacht. And that would have been OK, but «the week-long sailing» took a bit longer...
Clive and Jane Green had fallen so in love with their boat and the sea that they spent 16 years on the ocean instead of seven days as planned.
According to the BBC, the pre-retirement couple went on a cruise on a 35-foot sailboat in July 1998. During their time in the ocean, the sailors covered 51,000 nautical miles, visited 56 countries and crossed the Pacific.
It is known that the money for such an expensive pleasure the British extracted from renting real estate. The couple also saved money and lived on $217 a week.
Now back home, the yachtsmen are planning a new adventure.
