World Kiteboarding Championship was held from 18 to 24 November 2013 in China on Hainan Island. Athletes from 25 countries took part in the championship, including many juniors.

During four days the judging committee managed to hold 61 races, about 16 races in each fleet. On the day of medal races, unfortunately, the wind was less than 7 knots, so there was one medal race in the men's fleet. Elena Kalinina from Saint-Petersburg showed the best results amongst Russians: she took 3rd place in general classification and 1st place among girls U21. Congratulations to Lena on her deserved victory! This year it was not easy for our athlete: at the European Championships she won 14 races out of 18, but failed to win because of the intrigue that began around her board (read that story here).

Ivan Doronin showed the best result in men's classification, taking the 23rd place.
