Last Friday, October 3, the yacht of media tycoon Kerry Stokes was attacked by pirates. The attackers boarded the 36-metre vessel near Papua New Guinea and stole many valuable items from it. For example, watches, mobile phones, laptops, diving gear and cash were stolen.

The crew resisted the attackers, but the forces were unequal, so the criminals freely left the vessel. Fortunately, none of the crew were injured. The boat owner was not on board at the time of the incident.

The case is being thoroughly investigated and police are working at the scene.

Kerry Stokes is a businessman, chairman of the board of directors of Seven Network, one of the largest television corporations in Australia, and a major shareholder in several other major media.
