Robin Knox-Johnston will participate in the Route du Rhum

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston left Portsmouth for St. Malo, France. The seventy-five year old yachtsman intends to participate in the Route du Rhum singles race and cross the Atlanticonce again.

The race will start on November 2, 2014. Robin Knox-Johnston will be the oldest competitor in the event, and as his racing vessel, the veteran plans to use the Open 60 Grey Power, which he used to circumnavigate the world in the 2006/2007 season.

«Age makes no difference. I am in better shape than most of the competitors. I worked a lot on getting the boat ready plus I have a lot of practice»," said the sailor prior to the start.

Robin Knox-Johnston was the first person to sail solo non-stop around the world in 1968/1969. In addition, the athlete was the organizer of the amateur circumnavigation of the globe Clipper Round the World.
