A Christmas present from the Volvo Ocean Race

The film of the first Whitbread Round the World Race-1973/74 (now called the Volvo Ocean Race) has been restored and put online.

The video footage was found in the London film archives of the regatta, where it was gathering dust at the bottom of boxes among other footage accumulated over 40 years.

No one knew that the first Regatta footage still existed.
The film was cleaned, prepared and digitally transferred into the HD version. Note that films about the Volvo Ocean Race have never been produced in such a good quality and probably never will be. The process of their restoration is very expensive, and before we continue, the activists want to estimate whether the viewers need it. We can add from ourselves - yes, it is needed! Now we can see how yachtsmen dressed, talked and sailed 40 years ago in perfect quality. Of the race itself, it has to be said that it wasn't easy and not all sailors managed to make it back to shore.
