Today, February 20, 2014, the first leg of the Extreme Sailing Series regatta kicks off in Singapore. For the first time a Russian team will take part in Extreme 40 catamaran racing.
The Gazprom Team Russia crew, led by Igor Lisovenko, will compete against sailing pros Emirates Team New Zealand, Groupama Team France, The Wave, Muscat, Alinghi and J.P. Morgan BAR. The team consisting of Russians Alexey Kulakov, Victor Serezhkin, and famous British sailors Paul Campbell, Alistair Richardson and Pete Cumming is ready to compete against 11 competing crews. Yesterday the team had their first training session in the local waters.
Cheering for the athletes will be possible on the regatta website - Extremesailingseries.com promises to broadcast live from the Marina Bay waters.
