The youth national sailing team of Russia begins preparations for the sailing season, reports VFSU. As usual, the guys gathered in Sochi, where from March 22 to April 4 will be training camp.
More than 40 athletes - candidates for the national team at the age of 14 to 19 years - came to the Black Sea from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Region, Rostov, Samara and Chelyabinsk regions and will train on vessels 420, 29, «Laser Radial», «Laser 4.7», RS:X and «Techno».
This training camp will be the last rehearsal for windsurfers «Techno» before their departure for the European Championship, where at the end of April will be held the qualification round for the 2014 Youth Olympic Winter Games.
We would remind you that the preparation of the Russian youth team is carried out within the framework of the project «Team Nadezhdy! » , which is calculated for 7 years. It is planned that by 2020 young people shall get the necessary experience and try to win 10 sets of medals at the Olympic Games. The last time Russian yachtsmen were successful was in 1996 when the crew of Georgy Shaiduko managed to win «silver».
