Miami Boat Show through the eyes of Esmeraldusik's owner

Our comrade Ruslan Fazlyevwho, after the RiverExpo 2011 became the owner of the famed "Esmeraldus.", visited a week ago at the Motor Show in Miami, armed with a Canon EOS 5D MkII. Below is a small photo-reportage of him, specially for itBoat.

First day - Strictly Sail Miami sailing exposition

The hotel has booked via Hotwire.com: a random hotel in the selected area. Direct booking started from $600/night, took $140 through Hotwire. The hotel turned out to be quite normal and was 300 meters from the entrance to Strictly Sail.

Beneteau

...and I didn't like Beneteau Oceanis at all: very boring inside. The interior resembles the floor of an apartment in a multi-storey building with cheap laminate.

That catamaran's so tiny inside! When it seems that you can't accommodate anything else, you see a big master suite. And again, you can't fit anything else - and behind it there's a spacious toilet. And behind it, there's a shower room!

They're the only ones at the sailing exposition who have a girlfriend. But that's not the reason why Southerly liked the boats here the most, even more than Oyster.

Julia's (wife's) also liked it.

Catalina 315 is a small sailing yacht. It's a great machine for your money. Made in Florida. Just because the sail was raised, it didn't sway.

This is where we didn't get in line.

This Seaward is too vintage, to the detriment of usability.

And the interior is too "grandfather". Maybe she's just been walking for a while now, or a cue? I don't know...

Second day - Motor yachts exhibition

The previous hotel did not let me extend the reservation. Fine, the next day was a motor show, and it was in Miami Beach. We booked an occasional hotel with Hotwire - got a spinning Fontainebleau, and even right in front of the exhibition :).

For $1.7mln they trade a timeshare (!) on this ship for 50 days a year.

Azimut 70. You don't need to look any further. Absolutely the best. I want it.

Still the same Azimut 70. By the way, exactly 70 Flybridge. I don't like 70S that much, although it's also great.

Supported, for sale, $219k. 10k miles. Same azmimuths in the background.

Sunseeker 48 Portofino. Sunseeker's is the second best of the boats I've looked at, but this hatch through which I look... The Azimuth's hatch is made like in a car - the transparent and opaque parts walk separately. All the other boats are with an opaque hatch.

Sunseeker - with transparent. And it's as round as a magnifying glass, and how mercilessly the sun roasts under it! The broker reacted funny: the client complains about the wrong hatch. The broker's eyes become much bigger at once and start just to radiate crystal honesty.

Without blinking once, he answers the client: "We can separate the hatch cover for you. And pay attention, it's a special super glass for keeping out the sun heat, touch it, it's Cold, so it won't let in" :).

It's already Princess.

"Princesses" is not bad, but I liked less Sunseekers. Ah, there are no pictures, but still: Fairline is also not very stitched, too minimalistic in terms of interior. Or rather, Main Cabin Azimut is minimalistic. And Fairline's is boring!

MCY (Monte-Carlo Yachts)

When crossing 70" -> 38" I felt a compromise only in size, but not in attention to detail. Anyway, it's official: I'm a fan with Azimut.

A closed exposition is a pile of people, the air is stale, there is no feeling of a prisnik. Total democracy - there are, like, people's boats. "At the call of the toad, 31-36 chipped all the Americans. No, he took the Esmeraldusic for a reason! The Americans next to him suck.
