The first boat in the new Clipper race fleet arrived in Felixstowe, UK, last week. A total of 12 boats are planned, each of which will be sent by water from Qingdao, China, to the event venue. They will be finished and pre-tested here in Suffolk.
The design of the third generation of the Clipper 70 Class has been entrusted to architect Tony Castro.
The ninth Clipper race will begin in the summer of 2013. It is the longest race (40,000 miles) and the only one that helps beginners learn how to cross oceans.
