While Russia was having a rest over the long New Year holidays, the Oyster World Rally 2013-2014 started on January 6 from the island of Antigua. The round-the-world regatta is dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the British Oyster shipyard. During this time the shipyard has built more than 1000 yachts.
The route of the regatta goes through the most beautiful places of the planet. After starting in the Caribbean, the Oyster fleet will sail through the Panama Canal to the Pacific Ocean and visit the Galapagos Islands, Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea. Then the fleet will sail to the Great Barrier Reef, sail around the top of Australia, and visit Bali. It will spend Christmas in Cape Town, visit Brazil for Carnival and in April 2014 the Oyster fleet will return to the Caribbean.
