The 2013 Charleston M oth Winter Series was held last weekend in Charleston, South Carolina. The winner was decided only in the final race, in which four sailors were in the lead. In the end the podium was occupied by Brad Funk dancing over the water.

Reference. Moth - is a small boat that can race at speeds of large ships. The class originated back in the 1930s and the boats have been improved, but a significant breakthrough came in recent years when carbon fibre hulls, power kit and masts, as well as hydrofoils and aerodynamic winglets for deflection became commonplace. All of this was made possible by Australians Brett Burville and John Ilett, who began putting hydrofoils on these boats. The wings immediately increase speed of an ordinary "moth" by 15-20%.
