Jean-PierreDick, the fourthmember of the Vendee Globe , arrived in the port of Les Sables d'Olonne yesterday onhis unsinkable VirbacPaprec. He was greeted like a hero by an enthusiastic crowd. And quite deservedly so. Recall that on January 22, the boat lost its keel when it encountered an unidentified object. But despite this, Dick managed not only to avoid capsizing by pumping water ballast over the sides, but also to go to the finish line for the remaining 2,500 miles.
