And lost. Australian maxi yacht WildOats XI beat the 100-foot Comanche by 49minutes. The legendary boat managed to win the prestigious Rolex Sydney Hobart race for the eighth time. "Comanche" led the entire first day, but was caught in a zone of weak winds in Bass Strait. A total of 117 boats raced in the Rolex Sydney Hobart, which traditionally starts towards the end of the year, five of which were 100ft maxi-sailboats. The regatta was held for the 70th anniversary edition.
