Two and a half days after the starting guns were fired, the first boat crossed the finish line of the 606-mile Rolex Middle Sea Race. It was the single-hulled Rambler 88. Its "grandfather," the Rambler 90, set the race record in 2007 with 47 hours, 55 minutes and 3 seconds. The Rambler 88 is 20% faster than its predecessor, but the light wind conditions of the first two days left no chance for a new record. More than 100 boats participating in the Rolex Middle Sea Race are still vying for victory in their respective classes, but in the meantime we suggest you watch a spectacular photo report from Carlo Borlenga from the scene.
