Santiago Lange and Cecilia Carranza-Saroli of Argentina became gold medallists in the Nakra 17. For 55-year-old Santiago Lange, this is his sixth Olympic Games. He has twice won bronze in the Tornado class. A year ago, the yachtsman was diagnosed with cancer. Doctors removed half of his lung. Five days later, Lange was already cycling; a month later he was back yachting. His main goal was to win Olympic gold. "This victory can help people who go through this kind of thing overcome all the things I've overcome. But I prefer to focus on our athletic accomplishments. The illness had nothing to do with it. It was just a rock in the road. I was obsessed with preparing as well as possible for Rio, and we did that," says the yachtsman.
