Briton Rick Tomlinson had an interest in sailing from a young age and later developed a passion for photography. In 1985 he was on board Drum when she lost her keel near Fastnet Rock, luckily the boat was quickly repaired. Rick then took a series of hugely successful photographs and began his career as a professional photographer.
On December 11 he won a Public Award for his shot of the Volvo Ocean 65 racing boat.
