On the last day of the Extreme Sailing Series regatta, Team Red Bull's boat at 15 knots crashed into the side of Team Alinghi from Switzerland. The collision occurred just seconds before the finish, with the Swiss leading the race. Both teams were eliminated for the rest of the day. Despite the collision being the biggest in the eight-year history of the Extreme Sailing Series, the Alinghi crew was awarded the race win. According to Morgan Larson, Alinghi's helmsman, the damaged boat can be repaired. "In a good repair shop it would take a week," he said.
