The largest boat ever built by the Royal Huisman yard has undergone a total refit and is back on the water.

She entered the Huisfit docks last autumn with the 93m Eos from Lürssen in the hope of taking on a new colour.

Equipped with three masts, the 90-metre Athena was built in 2004 by a partnership between Dykstra Naval Architects and the late Pieter Beeldsnäder Pieter Beeldsnijder.

Externally the sailing yacht is elegant, majestic and classically rigorous. On the technical side she is very modern. She is capable of speeds up to 18 knots.

Taking advantage of the need for a mandatory Lloyd's Register survey when she is 15 years old, «Athena» underwent a major overhaul of the main engines and generators, repainted the hull and superstructure, and carried out rigging work. Various on-board systems have also been thoroughly diagnosed and upgraded, and the teak flooring on the main deck and bridge deck has been replaced.

The immense size of the schooner is still capable of accommodating 10 guests in five cabins and a crew of 20.
