The American crew of the Rambler 88 were the first to arrive in Monaco to receive the Line honours prize. But he never managed to beat the cherished record. The team crossed the finish line at 4:35 am on 13 June, 16 hours and 35 seconds after the start. Thus, the gap from the record-breaking time was just over 60 minutes. The fault was the wind, which treacherously quieted down when there were only a few miles to the finish. However, in a sense, the crew of Rambler 88 still managed to break the record of Esimit Europa 2, but only the previous record set in 2008 and not 2012. For skipper George David the current Giraglia is the first, so he is not discouraged and is preparing to make another attempt to set the present record in the future.

At midday on June 12, nearly three hundred Rolex Giraglia competitors caught wind in 15-20 knots and set off from Saint-Tropez, France. Ahead of them awaited a 241-mile crossing to Monacovia the island of Giralla .

The main intrigue of the next 24 hours was whether this year they would finally manage to break the speed record that the crew of the 30m Maxi Esimit Europa 2 had set back in 2012 - 14 hours, 56 minutes and 18 seconds? The main candidates for the new record breakers were, of course, the commensurate with the current record holders - like the American Juan K 27M Rambler 88 and the British Wallycento Magic Carpet 3.
