The Lone Ranger

Australia has built a special catamaran to patrol the Great Barrier Reef. Local authorities say the 24-metre ReefRanger catamaran is more cost-effective and twice as fast as the patrol vessel it will replace. The catamaran will monitor the 348,000 square kilometer area. The vessel can reach speeds of up to 25 knots and carry up to 12 passengers on board. In addition to diesel generators, it is equipped with a solar panel to reduce fuel consumption and environmental damage.
