While U.S. citizen Charles Norman was explaining himself to Nicaraguan immigration officials over an expired passport, his stranded sailing boat off the coast of La Boquita was being robbed by natives. Commenting on the incident, a member of the country's government expressed regret... But not in the fact of barbaric attitude to the property of foreigners, but the fact that the vessel had not had time to "inventory" and hand it over to the Navy or the National Police. By the way, eyewitnesses of the "dismantling" assert that it was the police, not local residents, who dismantled the sailboat.
