The Gaastra Palmavela regatta was held for the 12th time in the Bay of Palma. Over four days, 160 boats from 16 countries competed for titles in their respective classes. This year Dean Barker, who has recently scandalously left Team New Zealand, with which he had been working for 20 years, was spotted among the participants. The yachtsman wasn't out of the loop for long: he was invited to lead the Japanese team that announced its decision to participate in the America's Cup. In the Bay of Palma his TP52 had a very tight race and finished third. Russians also participated in Palmavela: the St. Petersburg-based Gazprom Youth Sailing Challenge team took fourth place in the Gazprom Swan 60 class. The full results of the competition can be seen here.
