Sailing in the park

Thirty minutes from Montreal, in the suburb of Vercherez, you can relax under sail without leaving the confines of the park. The unusual sailing benches were designed by designer Félix Guyon. They are installed on the site where a fort was located in the 17th century. They were made from white oak, the very wood used to build 17th-century sailing ships. The jury of the international design competition World Interiors News Awards appreciated Guyon's work and awarded him a prize in the category "Furniture". The sail is becoming a popular theme in urban architecture: for example, a caravel bridge has recently opened in Copenhagen.
