Heesen Yachts Shipyard in the Netherlands recently proudly announced the contract for the construction of another superyacht. The company's sales department can be proud of a year well spent - the current contract was the sixth in 2010, which is a good result for the Heesen calibre yard, especially in the present times. The total length of the six yachts ordered by customers this year is 281 meters.

The last contract signed foresees the construction of a 65m long yacht. This is the largest project Heesen has had to work on so far. The yacht will have an all-aluminium displacement hull designed according to the proprietary Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) concept. The new concept was first presented at the Monaco Yacht Show in September as a result of 20 years of research and layout testing by Van Oossanen & Associates, one of the leading Dutch design offices.

The layout of the yacht was designed by Omega Architects, a renowned firm that has a long association with Heesen. In addition to an ultra-modern smooth design, the yacht will feature an extensive beach club with a swimming pool aft. It is so extensive that it occupies all the space in the stern, traditionally reserved for the tender garage, so the tenders in the new yacht are kept... in the nose. If necessary, the bow sashes are gracefully opened upwards like gull wings, and the tenders go out on crane beams.

Construction of the new superyacht will begin in mid-December at Heesen Shipyard in the Netherlands. The company has already announced that one of its dry docks will have to be extended by approximately 12 metres to accommodate the 65-metre hull.

The delivery of the yacht to the client is scheduled for June 2013.
