Canadian Vickers Christina O
Canadian Vickers Christina O Overview
The vessel, built at the Vickers shipyard in Canada in 1943, was originally an escort frigate. Its beauty captivated the famous Greek armadillo Aristotle Onassis, who in 1954 converted it into the yacht Christina O, named after his daughter. Many famous personalities have been aboard the yacht: Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Maria Callas, Jacqueline Kennedy, Paul McCartney, Tommy Lee and others. After Onassis' death, the yacht passed to the Greek government and was then purchased by John Paul Papanicolaou, a Greek shipowner and friend of the Onassis family. He took over the costs of her restoration and began to use her for charter shipping. Today 36 passengers can be accommodated aboard the ship, which is equipped with 19 suites, including the Onassis suite. A week's stay on the legendary yacht costs 450 thousand euros. Her home port is Monaco. The yacht is equipped with two MAN engines of 2,775 hp each and is capable of speeds up to 19 knots.
