Baysian (ex. Salute) is the sixth in a series of 56m Perini sailing yachts, but she stands apart from them both by her design and her unusual history. She was commissioned by an important Dutch businessman with extensive experience in motor yacht ownership: at the time he was considering replacing his Heesen 36m boat with a 46m and all plans and specifications were ready when he had the chance to spend a week on a Perini Navi-built 52m charter boat Liberty. Immediately after the voyage, he abandoned the motorboat order and approached Perini with a sailboat order. However, unlike her sisters Baysian is not a ketch but a sloop. In this capacity the boat limits its owner: because of its mast height (which is the highest aluminum mast in the world and second highest after the M5 mast) the boat cannot pass the Panama Canal and will have to (if the owner so wishes) bypass Cape Horn or Cape of Good Hope.
