Built as Saudade, this boat was commissioned by a man who demanded above all high sailing qualities. It is a fast and comfortable sailing yacht with an aesthetic that actually laid down a new style of sailboat finishes. Peter Buildsnyder, the creator of Saudade's interiors, created a style of finish that he calls "nautical art deco. It is characterized by the extensive use of glossy lacquered mahogany with inlays of wenge wood and overlays of light, almost white leather. Added to all this is the sliding lighting of the edges and bases of the furniture and the sliding screens that cover the skylights. They provide warm natural light during the day and soft illumination at night, evoking a pleasant feeling of homeliness and warmth.
