After the revamped J-Class rules were recreated under the direction of designer Gerard Dijkstra, making it possible to build replicas of yachts that no longer existed in this class, interest in the class grew even more. After a great duel between Endeavour and Velsheda in 2000, the then lessee Endeavour decided to build himself a J Class yacht based on Harold Vanderbilt's famous Ranger, built in 1937 and which won the America's Cup the same year, winning four races (of seven). Alas, the yacht was scrapped during World War II, but Sparkman and Stephens kept the original blueprints. These were the basis for the construction of a new boat, of course, using different materials and taking into account the new safety requirements. Already the first racing experience showed the high level of competitiveness of the Ranger. Today the boat is one of the fastest in the entire fleet of J-class yachts.
