The history of the company

Norwegian shipyard Saga Boats was founded in 1960 under the name of Sejle Bruk by brothers Wald and Asbjørn Drageset in Selje. At first the shipyard had 50 employees and made small fiberglass rowing boats. In 1966, their first motorboat, the Saga 20, was taken off the slipway and became the company's bestseller. The success inspired the shipyard to create the Saga 27, this time a national bestseller. The modified boat was produced from 1968 to 2004, and the total number of hulls sold exceeded 5,000.

Since the mid 70's, the company has been producing semi-displacement hulls, which remain basic to the shipyard today. In the early 80's, the sales of Sejle Bruk's vessels dropped significantly, and in 1982 the company went bankrupt. However, the experience gained and the excellent base did not allow Asbjørn Drageset to give up. In 1983, he founded a small boat company called Sba Boats, soon renamed Saga Trading, and in 2001. - in Saga Boats. But this is not the end of the test. In 2008, the economic crisis forced the company to temporarily freeze production, which resumed in February 2009. The Saga team has only recently been able to return to its previous production levels. Today there is about half of the company's production for export. The main markets are Sweden and Denmark, while the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Finland are also important importers.

Production .

The production capacity of Selje, located in the west of Norway, is about 100 buildings per year, which is an excellent figure for Norway. Most of the materials used are of local origin. The yachts are produced with the liveliest participation of the owner's family. Modern production technologies and strict quality control allow the construction of light, strong and manageable boats. Thanks to this, Saga products are in high demand in the secondary market as well.

Model range

In recent years, the company has managed to get out of the peak that happened in 2008 and increased the number of models produced to six. These are semi-displacement closed cruisers with hardtop sizes from 9.5 to 12.7 meters. Their functional design balances the classics with the new trends that experienced users will appreciate.

Features

Saga boats have an advanced counterboat, which reliably protects the propeller shaft, propeller and rudder in the event of a collision with an underwater obstacle, making it comfortable to use these, in general, sea vessels and inland waters. The yachts of the shipyard are highly reliable and robust. This explains the fact that some boats manufactured in the 70s are still in daily use.
