The Italian shipyard Maori began with a 50-foot luxury tender. The bet on premium quality, high performance and unusual bright design soon paid off. Today the shipyard has a range of boats up to 78 feet and the company is not going to rest on its laurels: Maori's ambitious plans include building a megayacht with know-how that will save the owner up to 50% of the cost of maintaining it.
In 2017 Maori Yacht celebrated its 10th anniversary. Summing up the first big stage in its history, the shipyard has returned to where it started - with a 50-foot superyacht tender - but has completely rethought the concept. This is how the Maori 54 transformer was born, the quintessence of all previous shipyard experience.
Neither in the harbour nor on the water will it go unnoticed for sure.
«We have developed a project that draws inspiration from the automotive industry. We applied the concept of convertible - a convertible car with a hinged top - to the boat»," says renowned designer Marco Champa, who worked on the Maori 54.
The Maori 54 is a cabriolet yacht. By pressing a button, the windows of the Maori 54 cabins are lowered and the roof is folded into a special compartment in the floor.
This elegant solution makes the Maori 54 a 2-in-1»boat«. It is also an open superyacht tender for short charters between the boat and the shore and a comfortable ocean class day cruiser with a draft of only 0.9 meters, where you can set out to explore the shallow coasts.
On a cruise, the cabin closes and the V-shaped seat turns into a double bed. On board there is everything you need for overnight voyage: in the rear of the cabin there are dressing rooms; behind the control station, under the protection of a hardtop, combined with a dinette galley; on the bow there is a large open area for communication. It is convenient to dive from the low stern. A large sun lounger at the stern can be covered with a tent.
Like other Maori yachts, the 54-foot model is built with vacuum infusion to reduce the weight of the vessel. The displacement of the 16.3 meter boat is 14 tons. It is equipped with partially submerged propellers in combination with three engine options. The top configuration with two MANs of 800 hp disperses the Maori 54 to 54 knots.
Russia is one of the priority markets for Maori - these beautiful fast boats have gained popularity among our compatriots. You can learn more about Maori yachts from the specialists of the Russian yacht broker Boutique Yachts.
