Category Description
Sturdiness and durability are the main advantages of yachts with light alloy hulls. Marine aluminum is used for pleasure boats that are up to 90-m long; these include not only motor boats but also many sailing boats.
Flexible and lightweight metal allows you to get the right hull lines and make construction solid while also preserving the minimal weight of the hull. Aluminum hulls allow one to freely change the length of the vessel and the arrangement of bulkheads without needing to create a new mold. This allows one to build custom projects as part of the production line, which is important for the semi-custom segment of yachts, without incurring major additional costs. With proper noise insulation and no structural noise, aluminum yachts are as quiet as their GRP counterparts.
Damages to the aluminum hull are easy to detect and relatively easy to repair, and the aluminum oxide film that naturally forms on the surface of the aluminum hull protects the material against corrosion. A light alloy is extremely demanding in terms of welding and painting quality, but if an aluminum yacht is made of good, properly welded metal, it will last forever, even in an unpainted state.
