The Chapparal 226 SSi is elegant, straightforward and fast, just like all the Bowriders in the SSi range. To cope with a speedboat, the helm needs an ergonomic control station, and there's nothing wrong with it.
The beautiful dashboard is like a car. However, the location of the main instruments - the speedometer with digital depth gauge and the tachometer with motor-hour counter - can be bewildering: they are on the sides, while in the centre there are secondary signs.
The right hand rests comfortably on a long armrest, which is extremely rare in the world of shipbuilding. The captain can operate with his fingers the slightly unfolded remote control of the iPod-integrated stereo system, which is included in the basic package of all SSi boats. The second such remote control is on the bathing platform.
The already comfortable seats can be replaced by the Premium Bucket, where the height adjustment and rotation is carried out by levers on the sides of the folding roll.
In the longitudinal to transom body, the bottom plays the role of transom plates, reducing the differential, hence the excellent 226 SSi speaker. With the 300-horsepower Mercury 5.7L 350 Mag, it only takes 2.6 seconds to reach the waxing stage and a top speed of 48.35 knots. Fantastic! Only fuel consumption is disappointing, but if you lower the speed to 24.5 knots, you can overcome a cruising distance of 310 kilometers at one filling station.
