The Swan 82 S has replaced two versions of the 82: 82 RS and 82 FD. The first had a raised saloon, the second had an almost smooth deck. They were replaced by the S-ca, a model with a semi-raised saloon that combines the advantages of both versions. Its housing is made of a complex combination of glass and aramid fibres with local carbon fiber reinforcements. A large number of unidirectional fibers are used for additional rigidity and strength, the filler for the body section is not used at all. On the other hand, all bulkheads carry honeycomb made of Nomex as their base to reduce weight.
Very big efforts were made by the company to reduce noise and vibrations on board. For this purpose, all the flooring panels are covered from below with a special vibration absorbent material and the multilayer bulkheads between the cabins are designed in such a way that the sound passing through them is attenuated by at least 20 dB(A).
