Garmin has introduced the quatix 3 , a smart watch with GPS specifically for use on the water.

The watch communicates wirelessly with your Garmin chartplotter and displays NMEA 2000 data (wind speed and direction, depth, etc.). You can also download current tide data to your watch via a compatible smartphone.

The drift alarm monitors your movement in relation to your anchorage and will warn you if your boat drifts off course.

The MOB (man overboard) button allows you to quickly save the location where the fall overboard occurred to immediately return to the location.

The virtual start line function allows you to connect two points on the GPS map (e.g. between the buoy and the organizer boat). The device will then use this line and the location of the owner's boat and the built-in subtraction timer to calculate distance, desired speed and remaining time to race.

Like other Garmin devices, the quatix 3 has many multi-sport features. The user can track body stats and upload them to the recently updated Garmin Connect app. It also includes syncing calls, texts and emails to a compatible smartphone, and alerts are displayed on the watch's screen.

The quatix 3 smartwatch has an LED backlit color display capable of displaying data in any lighting conditions. The device is highly durable, equipped with a scratch-resistant sapphire protective glass, a fiberglass-reinforced case and a protective steel ring. The device withstands submersion to a depth of 100 meters and provides up to 20 hours of operation in GPS mode, 50 hours in UltraTrac economy mode and 6 weeks in watch mode (depending on settings).
