Powerful weapons: fresh renders of Crossbow by Hydro Tec

Italian naval architecture studio Hydro Tec has shared new information and renderings of its largest conceptual superyacht, the 100-metre Crossbow. BoatInternational writes about it.

The boatyard-like hull and superstructure are made of aluminum. Crossbow's width «» (as the name of the concept translates) is only 12.5 metres - more than a metre narrower than typical boats in this size segment. The concept is «fast, lightweight and with an elegant sporty aesthetic».

The draft of 3,5 meters allows to enter shallow waters, where boats of this size usually shouldn't go.

Crossbow will reach a top speed of 25 knots. The boat is propelled by a pair of MTU 16V 4000 M93L engines.

Hydro Tec studio designed the pleasure decks, «keeping in mind the speed». The foredeck, meanwhile, can be converted into an entertainment area or sunbathing area when the boat is at anchor.

A key priority in the design was to have storage space for tenders and water toys, so the owner «Crossbow» has no need to use a support vessel. Under the helipad is a hangar for the helicopter. Aft there is a garage that will house two 9.5m tenders and, closer to midships, four jet skis.

Perhaps the most interesting design is the unconventional positioning of the wheelhouse, which has been moved from the main deck to the top deck, leaving room for a two-story atrium. Fresh renders show the seemingly endless curved windscreen in more detail.

Extra stars, if any were awarded to boats, Crossbow gets for the 135-square-foot beach club, an infinity pool on the upper deck, an exercise room on the main deck and a lounge area with piano. A separate lounge, private study, private cinema and Jacuzzi are all benefits of the private owner's deck, with staterooms for a total of 32 crew and 16 guests on board.

«Following the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show we have seen a growing interest in creating new designs like Crossbow», says Richard Partington, yacht designer at Hydro Tec.

Unfortunately Hydro Tec is only ready to reveal this 100-metre concept at the moment as the studio is currently in the design and negotiation stages of the other «Crossbows».
