Finnish shipyard Baltic Yachts is preparing to begin construction of a 35.6-metre sailing cruiser designed by Dykstra Naval Architects this autumn. A boat for an experienced owner with an eye for both yachting and modern engineering solutions, Custom Classic will combine the features of an elegant pilot boat on the outside and an advanced eco-friendly vessel on the inside.

A composite hull with a bulwark straight into the water and high bulwarks will be the envelope for the yacht where the heat generated by the air conditioning system will be used to heat water while the power consumption in the empty cabins will be automatically reduced by a computer monitoring system. Completing the list of eco-elements of the Custom Classic is an electric motor powered by lithium-ion batteries. Thanks to this motor, even when not under sail, the boat will be able to cruise quietly for a long time.

The interior design was developed by the De Vous de Vries studio. The finishing will be made of stained oak and metal fittings in an industrial chic aesthetic.

Up to 14 people will be able to sail on Custom Classic at the same time. Six crew will be accommodated in the aft area and six guests in three cabins located closer to the bow. The master cabin will be located forward as well.

According to Baltic Yachts, the boat will comply with the standards of DNV GL and will be able to sail to almost any part of the world's oceans.

The finished Custom Classic is expected to reach its owner in 2021.
