The Clipper Round The World amateur circumnavigation is over

Last week the winner of Clipper Round the World became known. It was the yacht Henry Lloyd. GREAT Britain crew came in second. In third place was One DLL.

The race leaders and participants were welcomed in London, Thames water area. Several thousand spectators gathered to greet the desperate sailors.

The round-the-world race started on September 1, 2013 and lasted about 11 months. During this time the yachts have covered about 40 thousand miles and visited 16 ports in 11 countries on 6 continents.

670 yachtsmen from 42 countries participated in the regatta. An absolute majority of the race participants were amateurs. At the same time 40% of the competitors have never sailed and Clipper Round The World 2013-2014 was their first attempt at sea. However, each crew was led by an experienced and professional skipper.

Clipper Round The World was founded in 1996 by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, who first sailed non-stop around the world 45 years ago.
