Hong Kong's Team Sun Hung Kai/Scallywag ran aground just before the finish of the first leg of the Volvo Ocean Race in Lisbon. The team, led by David Witt, had tried to pass their nearest rival AkzoNobel on the Tagus, but had suddenly hit the bottom of the river. With navigator Steve Hales getting the better of the anchor, Parko Parkinson and Alex Gough had to wrap an anchor around the liferaft and haul it out of the water to allow Scallywag to cross the remaining meters to the finish line.
