The Costa Concordia liner has been lying off the coast of the Italian island of Giglio for over a year now. That's where the shipwreck occurred on January 13, 2012. The catastrophe took 32 lives.

Finally, after long preparations, the unique operation of lifting the ship began on September 16, 2013. If everything goes as planned, the liner will be brought to the vertical position and delivered for recycling. Otherwise it will have to be sawed up and transported piece by piece. The length of "Costa Concordia" is 290 metres. The cost of its lifting is about $800 million.

The Telegraph is broadcasting the lifting of the liner live.
