Company history

In 2005, New Zealander Maurice Bryham created the concept of an amphibian boat. To start mass production he turned to David Mckee for help, and that same year they founded the Sealegs shipyard.

To draw attention to the brand, Maurice, in addition to the usual advertising, began to use non-standard ways of promotion. So, the shipyard began to set world records.

Sealegs was the fastest amphibious boat to cross the Channel.

The boats of the shipyard were also the first and only in their class to pass the Cook Strait and travel around the South Island in New Zealand (the largest island in the country).

Of course, it is quite difficult to create a transport capable of fully moving both on the ground and in water.

Sealegs boats are more boats than cars.

They behave confidently on the water, develop decent speeds, and they need more wheels to go down to the water or go ashore. On land, boats can travel up to 30 minutes at a maximum speed of 7.5 km/h.

The opportunities for Sealegs amphibians have not only attracted people who do not want to wet their feet. They are in demand among fishermen, hunters and even the security forces.

Status .

In 2015, on its 10th anniversary, the shipyard launched the 1000th boat. Today the company continues its work.

Production

The company's production facilities are located in Rosdale, near Auckland. The company has at its disposal one building divided into several workshops. Also the main office is located here. The shipyard has offices in the USA, Australia, France and Great Britain, through which Sealegs sells its products in 55 countries.

The model lineup

The yard's model range includes two lines - Professional and Recreational. The first range includes multifunctional boats, which are popular with rescuers, coast guards and the military. The Recreational series is designed for active recreation and day trips.

Features of amphibian constructions do not allow to use fiberglass for hulls, that is why the shipyard gave preference to stronger aluminum during construction. All manufactured boats are equipped with outboard motors.

The company offers its customers RIBs, which can also be used as tenders, fishing boats, models with central console, amphibians with hardtop and semi-closed salon, etc..

Features .

The Sealegs shipyard does not only produce boats, it also sells separate kits with which an ordinary boat can be turned into an amphibian. The service is now available to private customers wishing to improve their boat, as well as to other manufacturers. Sealegs AES technology is widely used by Profile Boats, Sillinger, StabiCraft and Gemini Marine.
