Sunshine was built in 2003 from the original blueprints by William Fife III and was the third boat to be built to the design number 468, first introduced in 1900. The first two boats - the original Sunshine and Asthore - were built in 1900 and 1902 respectively, but the hull and sailing equipment of the new boat closely resemble them. even though the boat is built today, she uses a lot of materials and technology from the beginning of the last century. For example, the deck decking is made of long and thick teak boards caulked with ordinary cotton caulk (some experts believe that this may be the last deck ever made in this way). The masts are also traditional - riveted from spruce wood (Alaskan spruce), and the standing rigging is not made of stainless, but of ordinary galvanized steel for maximum consistency with the original prototype. The unusual thing is that instead of processing furniture parts on modern machines, this work was entrusted to one person, who performed it for the entire 18 months. Especially to make the boat more in tune with the spirit of the times, its construction was entrusted to one of the shipyards in Myanmar (former Burma) where specialists in traditional techniques are still preserved.
