History of the company

Derecktor Shipyards America boasts a long and rich history. It was founded in 1947 in Mamoronek, New York by Robert E. Shipyard. It was founded in 1947 in Mamoroneck (New York) by Robert E. Derecktor. Unlike many competitors, she is engaged not only in megayachts, but also in commercial vessels, having achieved notable success in both directions.

The first yacht of the shipyard was the 18-meter sloop Brunonian, launched in 1949. The most unusual yacht built by the firm is the 82-meter US Coast Guard, built in a series of nine units in the late 1980s. In addition, Derecktor has created the 86-meter Cakewalk (2010), which is the largest private yacht built in the U.S. since 1930.

The company is not without reason to declare that it is ready to satisfy any requirements of consumers.

The business is currently run by the founder's eldest son, Paul Derecktor, who is well known as the creator of such famous racing yachts as Boomerang and Stars and Stripes (winner of America's Cup in 1987).

Production .

Derecktor Shipyards builds ships on two modern production sites. The first is located in New York, the second in Florida. They allow the shipyard to build and maintain a wide range of ships with hulls made of aluminum, steel and composites. The company works with designer Tim Heywood and naval architects from Azure Naval Architects.

Fleet

Derecktor yachts are built with Full Custom system, which allows to meet any, even the most specific requirements of the customer. The yard's portfolio includes motor and sailing megayachts from 30 to 86 meters in length.

Features

The extensive manufacturing and design experience allows Derecktor Shipyards to use atypical technical solutions in the design of their yachts. In particular, the shipyard has been successful in building catamarans and installing hybrid propulsion systems.
